About MitzvahReady
Rabbi David Siff has been doing this work for a long time — long enough to know that the families who need him most are often the ones who think they can't call him.
He grew up steeped in Jewish tradition, earned a PhD in Kabbalah and Jewish Philosophy from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and has led synagogues and Jewish communities in South Florida since 2006. He integrates music, drama, and serious engagement with traditional texts into everything he does, because he believes that Judaism is only worth passing on if it actually speaks to people where they are — not where you think they should be.
He started MitzvahReady after years of watching families fall through the cracks. The family that wasn't affiliated anywhere and didn't know where to begin. The family that had moved and lost their community. The interfaith family that wasn't sure they'd be welcomed. The family where the kid had a learning difference and couldn't keep up in a group class. The family that just wanted something meaningful and personal and didn't need it to look like everybody else's bar mitzvah.

Our Teachers
Rabbi David Siff has served as a pulpit rabbi since 2006. His PhD from JTS focused on the mystical works of Rebbe Nahman of Breslov — not exactly light reading — but what that training gave him is a deep conviction that Jewish wisdom has something real to say to every generation, including this one. He brings that conviction into every class, alongside music, storytelling, and a genuine delight in working with young people at one of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
Hannah Siff is a student at the University of Florida and has been teaching with MitzvahReady since 2025. She brings a different energy — warm, patient, conversational — that works especially well for students who need to build confidence before they can build skills. She's also proof that you don't have to be ancient to love this stuff.
Our Philosophy
We believe the bar and bat mitzvah should mean something — not just to the parents, not just to the grandparents, but to the kid standing up there.
That means we don't rush. We don't teach to a script. We don't make your child feel behind because they started later than someone else, or because Hebrew is hard, or because your family doesn't go to services every Shabbat. We start where your child is and we build from there.
Three thousand years of history went into this moment. We want your child to feel that — and to feel ready.
MitzvahReady is a program of Kol HaLev, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Jewish community based in Palm Beach County, Florida (EIN 84-2125758). Tutoring fees support the work of Kol HaLev, including our free and reduced-cost community programming, monthly Shabbat gatherings, and our commitment to making Jewish life and Jewish learning accessible to families regardless of financial means. Sliding scale pricing is available — no family that wants this experience will be turned away. Our goal is to provide a Torah education to everyone who is interested.
